And Then... The Whole Tent Went Quiet

More than 40 women gathered under the main stage tent with me at the Wild Women NEPA Festival this past Saturday.

Most had never experienced JourneyDance before.

And what unfolded was pretty special.

Women of different ages and body types.

Most of us strangers to one another.

Some swaying gently.

Others moving BIG.

Scarves flying through the air.

Laughter.

Breath.

Play.

And THAT was one of my favorite things to witness.

Grown women letting themselves play.

No worrying about looking silly.

No getting it "right."

Just moving, laughing, expressing, connecting.

At one point, I paired women up to dance together.

And for a moment, I wasn't sure how this part was going to land.

Asking women who had just met to look one another in the eye and say these things out loud?

It could have felt awkward as hell.

But it didn't.

They went for it.

You're so amazing.

You're so brave.

You're so joyful.

And they were LOUD about it.

It was better than I could have imagined.

Because at the end of the day, these aren't things we're giving to one another.

They're reminders of what's already there.

Sometimes we forget.

And sometimes we need another woman to remind us just how Superfine we truly are ✨

🪩 A glimpse of some of the 40+ women who danced with me under the tent 🪩

And then...

we called our power back.

This is one of the rituals I love working with.

Using movement, breath, sound, and imagination, we physically pull the energetic cords connecting us to what we no longer want to give our power to.

I invited the women to name those things out loud.

Fear.

Self-doubt.

Anger.

Injustice.

Voices started calling them out from around our circle.

We reached.

We pulled.

And together, we released them with one big...

HA!

I've done this practice many times.

It's powerful when we do it together online, each of us moving in our own space.

But hearing 40+ women name what they were ready to unhook from and feeling that collective HA! move through the tent?

OMG.

There was POWER in that.

But the moment that has stayed with me most happened near the end.

By then, the tent was BUZZING.

Women were laughing.

Talking.

Giddy.

There was so much energy moving through that space.

I put on our final song.

I didn't tell anyone to stop talking.

I didn't tell anyone they had to lie down or be still.

I simply invited them to drop in...

and listen to the words.

And the tent went quiet.

All that movement.

All that laughter.

All that expression.

And then...

Silence.

The music invited us inward.

And in that moment, I was reminded once again why I'm so passionate about creating spaces specifically for women.

Spaces where we can simply BE.

Where we can move.

Play.

Make sound.

Take up space.

Connect.

Be witnessed.

Witness one another.

Call our power back.

And then get quiet enough to hear ourselves again.

An opportunity to awaken the Wild Woman within.

To express.

Soften.

Listen.

Receive.

And here's the thing...

We don't have to be under the same tent to experience that together.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about creating these experiences online.

Online removes so many of the barriers that can keep us from showing up in the first place.

No drive.

No finding childcare or someone to take on caregiving responsibilities.

No worrying about what to wear or whether you'll know anyone when you walk through the door.

You get to create your own space, exactly as you need it, and still be part of a circle of women moving, breathing, resting, and exploring alongside you.

So if you couldn't experience our Wild Woman JourneyDance® in person, we're continuing the exploration at Brave Women on Saturday, September 5.

Two hours.

Two healing modalities.

JourneyDance® + Yoga Nidra.

Free.

Online.

From the comfort of your own home.

We'll move.

Breathe.

Sound.

Express.

And then we'll soften into deep rest and listen.

This is an invitation to awaken — or perhaps rediscover — your own inner Wild Woman.

Maybe she needs to move.

Maybe she needs to make some noise.

Maybe she needs to call some of her power back.

Maybe she needs to rest.
