I made the mistake of spending a little too much time online this past week.
For a hot minute, I felt hopeful.
Seeing people show up, use their voices, and care about the direction we're heading made me think that maybe, just maybe, we were starting to move toward something better.
And then I kept scrolling.
The anger. The finger-pointing. The way people speak to and about one another.
And just like that, my little bubble of hope started to deflate.
I found myself thinking, How the hell are we supposed to make anything better if we keep treating each other like the enemy?
And I can't shake this feeling that the whole world is holding its breath.
Do you feel it too?
People are hurting. The cost of simply living is becoming overwhelming for so many families.
An article published in August reported that nearly 1 in 7 people in Sullivan County, NY, where I live, experience food insecurity.
One in seven. Right here in my own community.
And with winter approaching, the uncertainty of how to afford groceries, heat our homes, and meet our basic needs is very real for so many of us.
Meanwhile, everywhere we turn, someone is telling us what to fear, what to prepare for, and who's to blame.
It's a f*cking lot.
And I don't know about you, but when the world feels this unpredictable, there's a part of me that wants to grip a little tighter.
Figure things out. Make a plan. Get ahead of whatever might be coming.
Because surely if I can just KNOW what's going to happen, I can prepare for it.
Right?
Except that's not how life works.
I've spent much of this year intentionally practicing two things: faith and trust.
And while both have deepened, I'd be lying if I told you I don't still get shaken.
I do.
But I'm realizing something.
Faith isn't the absence of doubt. It's choosing to keep showing up when doubt is sitting right there beside you.
And maybe surrender isn't about giving up or doing nothing.
Maybe it's about loosening our grip. Letting go of the need to control how everything unfolds, without giving up on what matters to us.
Allowing ourselves to be the witness for a moment instead of always being the one trying to fix, figure out, or force what's next.
Which brings me to Monday's New Moon in Scorpio
The theme of this lunar cycle is The Journey of Becoming.
And one of its most beautiful invitations is to recognize that transformation often begins long before we can see the evidence of it.
That's what we're gathering to explore this Monday, November 9, through JourneyDance and our New Moon Ceremony.
Because here's the thing about being human.
We spend so much time in our heads.
Replaying what happened yesterday. Worrying about what might happen tomorrow. Imagining worst-case scenarios that haven't even happened.
And somewhere in all that thinking, we lose touch with the only moment we're actually living.
This one.
And sometimes the fastest way out of the endless loop in our heads is to get into our bodies.
To move. Breathe. Make some noise. Feel what we're feeling instead of trying to think our way through it.
Into our bodies. Into the present moment.
Through movement, music, and whatever emotions are asking to be felt, we create space for something to shift.
And afterward, we'll move into our New Moon ritual — gratitude, wishes, intentions, affirmations, and aligned action steps to carry us toward the Full Moon.
There's nothing you have to figure out before you come.
Nothing you have to release.
No particular experience you're supposed to have.
Just an opportunity to step away from the noise of the world and reconnect with yourself, alongside other women doing the same.
Back in June, under the Full Moon in Capricorn, I created a mantra that's been hanging from my computer screen ever since:
Whatever comes, I trust myself to meet it.
Five months later, I'm still coming back to those words.
And with everything happening in the world, they feel more relevant than ever.
Because trusting myself doesn't mean I won't be afraid of what's coming.
It means I don't have to let that fear decide how I live today.
The world might be holding its breath.
But we don't have to hold ours 💜
