Heart of the Lioness: An Invitation to Remember

Every August, conversations about the Lion's Gate Portal start to appear everywhere.

Manifest your dreams.
Call in abundance.
Step into your highest timeline.

If you're scratching your head thinking, "Lion's Gate...what?" you're not alone.

Inspired by the annual alignment of the Earth, the Sun, and Sirius during Leo season, Lion's Gate has become a time when many people pause to reflect, set intentions, and reconnect with what matters most.

While every Lion's Gate carries themes of renewal and possibility, this year's invitation feels especially heart-centered. It's less about becoming someone new and more about courageously expressing who we've been all along.

And as I was reading this year's Lion's Gate reflections from Moon Omens, one line, in particular, stopped me in my tracks:

"Growth comes not from becoming someone else but from choosing to fully inhabit who we are."

It reminded me that healing isn't about becoming someone else.

It's about reconnecting with who we've always been beneath the fear, conditioning, and self-doubt.

Because I don't think most of us wake up one morning and decide to disconnect from ourselves.

We learn it.

We learn to question our instincts.
To override our boundaries.
To hide our tears.
To quiet our joy.
To make ourselves easier, smaller, more acceptable.

Little by little, we stop trusting what we know to be true.

And over time, we lose touch with the part of ourselves that trusted.

The part that lived from the heart.
The part that expressed itself freely.
The part that embraced joy.
The part that simply knew who we were.

Whether you follow these traditions or simply appreciate the opportunity to pause, I believe moments like these offer us something beautiful.

An invitation.

An invitation to slow down.
To reflect.
To reconnect with ourselves.

Not to become more.
To remember.

Maybe it's about peeling away everything that convinced us we weren't enough to begin with.

Maybe it's about coming home to who we've always been beneath the fear.

That's why this week's JourneyDance® theme is… Heart of the Lioness

For me, the lioness isn't just a symbol of fierceness.

She's a symbol of self-trust.

She reminds us what it feels like to be deeply rooted in ourselves.

To trust our own heart.

To stop waiting for permission to shine.

To know that gentleness and strength can exist together.

To choose authenticity over performance...

Presence over proving...

Love over fear.

To remember who we've always been.

Through movement, music, breath, and ritual, we'll explore what it feels like to embody those qualities — not because we're trying to become the lioness, but because we're remembering she's been within us all along.

If your heart is longing to reconnect with that part of yourself, I'd love to have you join us.

— Danielle

P.S. If you're feeling called to honor Lion's Gate in your own way, here's the journal prompt I'll be reflecting on this week:

If I trusted my heart more than my fear, what would I say yes to?
