What If Home Isn’t a Place?
When you hear the word home...
What comes to mind?
A place?
The people you love?
A feeling?
Now let me ask you a different question...
Do you feel at home within yourself?
Not just when life is going well.
Not when everyone around you is happy.
Not when your to-do list is complete.
But in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Can you rest in your own body?
Can you trust your own heart?
Can you offer yourself the same compassion you so freely give to everyone else?
Tomorrow's New Moon has me thinking about a quote I've loved for years... and still do.
"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live."
When we owned our food business, I saw it through the lens of food as medicine.
Taking care of my body meant paying attention to what I put on my plate.
Today, after years of my own healing journey, I hear those words very differently.
I've come to realize that taking care of my body isn't just about how I nourish it.
It's also about how I speak to myself.
How I care for my health and give my body the rest it needs.
How I sit with my emotions instead of pushing them away.
Because healing isn't about fixing ourselves.
It's about slowly rebuilding trust with ourselves.
Responding with compassion instead of criticism.
Honoring our needs instead of pushing past them.
Believing our feelings deserve our attention instead of our judgment.
Little by little...
Breath by breath...
Choice by choice...
We begin creating a relationship with ourselves that feels safe enough to call home.
Maybe that's what home really is.
Not a place.
But a relationship we cultivate within.
That's why tomorrow's Cancer New Moon feels so special.
Its invitation isn't to manifest something new.
It's to cultivate the inner safety that allows new beginnings to take root.
An invitation to redefine what home truly means.
Not as a physical place, but as a feeling.
Because when we begin to feel at home within ourselves, we stop searching for home everywhere else.
Many of us learned to search for that feeling outside of ourselves.
In relationships.
Achievement.
Being needed.
Keeping everyone else happy.
Staying busy.
Holding it all together.
Proving we're enough.
Maybe it's time to stop searching... and start coming home.
During our New Moon Ceremony and JourneyDance®, we'll explore what it means to nurture that relationship with ourselves.
We'll gently release the protective patterns that no longer serve us.
We'll reconnect with the wisdom that's been within us all along through reflection, ritual, and movement.
We'll plant intentions rooted in self-trust, emotional safety, and the life we truly want to create.
We'll give our bodies permission to express — creating space for greater peace, presence, and connection.
Imagine what could shift if, instead of spending this next lunar cycle searching for home... you spent it creating one within yourself.
One compassionate choice.
One intentional breath at a time.
P.S. Tomorrow, when the New Moon arrives, give yourself a few quiet moments to reflect or journal:
What does "home" truly feel like to me?
Where have I been looking outside of myself for the safety, belonging, or validation I'm truly longing for?
What's one loving promise I want to make to myself this lunar cycle?
